All of it. There are many pros and cons in deciding a traditional Riad over a modern hotel. With the Riad Dar Shana it was definitely the case of the glass being more than half full. The ambiance, tranquillity, and personalized service we received at the Riad Dar Shana made our stay terrific. The staff were very accommodating to our young family (sterilizing baby bottles, boiling water, kids running around and making noise etc). The Moroccan decor of the Riad was great and the courtyard was cool, tranquil and inviting after the hustle and bustle of the Medina.
Nothing but you need to be accepting that staying here is an experience. For instance the walk to the souks took 20-30 mins but was an adventure that many tourists would not get if staying elsewhere
The courtesy and kindness of the staff, always available night and day for any information or need. We felt like at home and wish to come back soon!
Friendly environment, very quiet location, cousy, warn reception and availability of the staff. We would recommend this to our friends.
The Riad Dar Shana is a little oasis in the caos of the city . It's a wonderful place near the city center: 20 minutes to walk, but if you want a taxi it costs only 3 euro. It's elegant, peaceful and extremely clean. The room are fantistic with their maroccan design and the bathroom too. The staff was the better i have never met . It is always helpful and help you in every your request . Here the tourist is not a number like the big hotel but it is a special guest. Furthermore, you have to try the delicious dinner that it's possible to order there. I suggest this riad to everyone who wants to visit marrakesh in order to have a great stay.
Staff was very welcoming and helpful.
The breakfast was not particularly amazing and the same each day with no choice.
A great stay. Staff very freindly and the loaction lets you experinece a more authentic area of Marrakech. Easily beats the glitzy 5 star hotels that surround the city.
Lounge area with pool and comfy chairs. Helpful staff, great atmosphere and food, good bathroom. Very quiet.
Potential guests should be told there is a 5 minute walk down narrow lanes from where taxis drop you off. This was very intimidating in the dark when we arrived. Also, there was no name outside the riad when we reached it, and it would have been reassuring to see one. Minor quibble - the western "muzak".
Friendly environment, peaceful and tranquil in what is a busy hustle bustle of street life.
Good value for money. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The room was very nice.
The location is not perfect, but not bad. It is a bit of a walk to main attractions. Careful of 20% fee for credit cards. Be prepared to have local currency on hand to pay your bill.
Lovely Riad within the old walled city, it was an oasis in the middle of the hussle and bussle of Marrakesh. The staff and accommodation was simply fantastic and although we initially thought it was a little bit far away, it was always a nice walk down the locals main street into the Medina - turned out to be a fantastic base for sightseeing by foot.
With a stay at Dar Shana in Marrakech (Medina), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Marrakesh Museum and Bahia Palace. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
