G.L. 都市酒店 - 馬德里 Urban

The hotel is very attractive, sleek and modern. The best feature is the location, just a short walk to Puerta Del Sol and tons of restaurants/tapas bars, and a pleasant walk to the Prado or the Palace Real. The desk staff were very helpful in identifying nearby restaurants and answering questions about Madrid. The bathroom amenities were outstanding, nice big towels and a great shower. Black out curtains and free internet were a big plus.

Urban is very attractive and the rooms spacious by European standards, but ours on Floor 1 was very noisy. Not sure about the upper floors, but we heard everyone in the hallway, all the early morning preparations and the popular bar at night. The beds may be to European tastes, but far too firm for us - just a mattress on a platform. The breakfast was inappropriately expensive (a smaller, more affordable option - coffee, juice and croissants, perhaps?). We also missed being able to utilize some of the common spaces, esp. the roof terrace, due to many private functions. The desk staff were great but others seemed more interested in chic than service. This hotel is best suited for (much) younger people and business travelers.

The bed wasn't very comfortable...and the sheets were like sand paper.
