The only good thing about the hostal was the view of Gran Via from the balcony.
Although the hostal is relatively clean it is very shabby (plastic flowers, terrible framed pictures, etc) and a refurbishment is loooong overdue. After 11pm the main door is closed so you have to ring the bell for the concierge to open for you (after showing him evidence that you are staying in the hostal). He then accompanies you in the lift, opens the hostal door for you, and once inside gives you your room key from the reception desk. We found all this to be a bit of a nuisance!
location, low price, good bathroom, friendly housekeeper who unfortunately couldn't speak English
small room, no reception desk,
The best was the situation and the staff (very friendly and helpful).
The room was correct but the beds made noise and the mattres springs were very uncomfortable. It was a chair in the roonm that was broken.
Great staff,,,Good Location....Nice room -- clean and with a good bed. Have stayed previously and will stay again in the future.
I stayed in the hostel for 2 nights. I stayes in room number 6 and I like it because there was not the balcony but a lovely table with 2 armchairs near large windows.
I didn't appreciate that in the room there was not the windows and not a fan.
Very good location in the city centre next to all main sightseeing, clean and comfortable room, nice staff
It may not be a boutique hotel, but the location is fantastic; it's clean; and the price is pretty cheap for city centre Madrid.
Central area position close to all tourist attractions
no booklets no informational banners
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, and I got an "upgrade" to a twin room at the price of a single room because I stayed for a couple of nights.
The free Wifi exists but the signal strength is rather poor in the rooms "at the back" (i.e. far away from the access point).
Very nice and friendly woman welcoming people
The bedroom has a very bad soming smell...The person right before me must have been smoking very badly
