Fabulous 17th century French baroque villa overlooking a beautiful pond with the Bavarian alps towering magestically in the background
A bit far from city center
The setting for this hotel, on a lake with mountains behind is story book (it was used as the set for the Sound of Music). Breakfast is in the magnificent great house. You can browse a stunning adjacent library. Parking is free and easy.
Most of the rooms, however, are in a much simpler building across the driveway. The rooms are tired and worn, not much better than dorms last updated more than a decade ago.
I impressioned, very nice place: the garden, the castle, the lake and the room comfort.
It was great staying in the location where the Sound of Music was filmed. It was a beautiful location with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Breakfast was in the main castle/schloss with a scrumptious spread of a variety of foods. To stay here is a dream come true, and we were treated very well. Lovely experience we will not forget. We will be back one Christmas. Thank You to all the staff who made us feel so welcome.
The location was perfect. The hotel sits on a lake in the shadow of the Salzburg Fortress, with a view of the Alps.
The rooms really need to be updated. Bathroom is very old, with low water pressure. It was extremely warm when we stayed (and we're from Phoenix- so we're used to heat!) and the room did not have good ventilation. The bed was old and uncomfortable and the carpet really needs to be replaced.
The castle itself, staff absolutely kind, good services. Excellent breakfast Huge rooms and toilets. Everything was perfect. i highly recommend it.
maybe a little bit "out of town" if you are not to stay at the hotel for relax and wanna come and go into town. But it was nice to walk to the bus stop! After all, it was like 5 mins on the bus to get here.
Breakfast in the ballroom; space and desks in room
Expected rooms to be more modern as in website photos
Basically everything, especially the breakfast "ballroom" with a superb buffet breakfast and the stunning library. The grounds are just beautiful too. Wish we had more time there.
Having to leave it the next day to continue on our honeymoon!
The scenery and Schloss itself. The staff were the freindliest people that I have ever seen in a Hotel. If we come back, they would have played a huge role in that. Thankyou.
