The location, right by the harbour.
We felt it was grossly overpriced - the room was nothing special - cramped and very chintzy. The ensuite especially was cheap and cramped.
Excellent service and food, very clean and comfortable room
although the bathroom was very nice it did have a damp type smell, I asume from the drains. It was room 6
position position position, fantastic friendly helpful staff, wonderful accommadation, beautiful food at the restaurnat.
We both felt relaxed, and - with one exception - treated with friendliness and care by all the staff
There was nothing we didn't like.
A fantastic, unexpected setting with old sailing vessels on the quayside outside the front door. Warm welcome and good food, excellent value for money, small busy freindly bar. Restaurants larger than expected. I would go out of my way to stay there again.
The hotel suffers from problems that all Inns and old hotels have. Small bedrooms with poky en suite facilities for which the building was not designed - almost better to keep the bathroom at the end og the hall. My room had no view and there was music from the pub next door til 12, although not as intrusive as I thought it would be.
When you stay at Pier House in St Austell, you'll be in the historical district, within a 15-minute drive of Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
