Location was great for my business in the city. Staff was nice.
The lobby was under construction, walls were thin in my room so it was noisy at night. No coffee available until 7am and I had to leave in mornings by 6:30am. Rooms were very small.
The staff were accommodating when I requested a late checkout due to an interview in the city - it was great to have a place to come back to and change before another long travel day. This is the second time I've stayed at the hotel and each time the stay has been nice, staff friendly, and rooms comfortable and clean.
Enjoyed my stay. The rooms are petit but have all you need. Bathroom a decent size with a good shower. Nice pastries in reception for breakfast + kettle to make tea / coffee. Easy walk to many midtown locations. Street noise average for NY. Staff were very friendly. Overall a very nice surprise considering I had never heard of the hotel before
WiFi often needed to be logged back in when you returned to your room but worked well when connected
Weekend Business Trip
This hotel is very cute and boutique. It's unique character is charming and inviting. I was only there for the weekend for a short business trip and the hotel was a 5 minute walk from where I needed to be, so the convenience to a lot of locations within walking/subway distance is a major plus. Even though NYC traffic is loud the hotels windows blocked out a majority of the noise, which was nice for a small city girl to be able to fall asleep easily! Overall a lovely experience at this hotel!
The only thing that was a huge issue for me, which is not the hotels fault, was all the party people coming in at all hours of the night and being unbelievably loud at 3am. Woke up several different times during both nights which wasn't fun. Heavier doors or maybe asking guests if they are in for business then putting them away from the elevators? Again, not the hotel's issue, just wasn't a restful night of sleep.
Descent hotel but location and other patrons a bit odd
I booked this last minute to get a quad room for a family. They ran out of rooms with two beds so after some back and forth gave us a suite with one bed and a couch. The weird thing about this hotel is that it is located next to the museum of sex. My 7 year old kept asking if we could visit (not good) and there were a lot of younger/partying people on our floor that yelled into the night. Overall this hotel is fine, but beware of the slightly odd location.
Museum next door and younger crowd- not great for families
Great for a quick comfortable stay
Great place to stay! Convenient location in a non touristy part of the city. Being a former long-time resident of Grammercy, this is nice and close to my home neighborhood. Small but efficient and comfortable rooms, nice toiletries, good beds and linens, quiet.
Nothing
Don't Expect Much
Nice staff, powerful shower, nice bathroom fixtures, good liens and firm bed.
Very small and noisy. Radiant headed floors in bathroom would not heat. Two requests of front desk staff to have repaired not fulfilled. No room make up after 2nd night. No coffee service in the room. A pot of coffee shows up at 7am in the lobby with small pastries. No napkins, they have a box of facial tissues. New Yorker visitors much be used to poor value.
The room was comfortable but no view. The location was convenient.
The counter staff were rather aloof and totally inflexible with regards to the check in check out times.
It was very clean. The room was stylish and comfy. The location is amazing.
They can't help it- they are in the process of remodeling. No lobby, no area for breakfast, no ice machine. These things will probably all be back when the hotel is finished being remodeled. Great value.
Jeremy and the staff that we dealt with were super helpful and accommodating!
The elevator isn't the quickest...
A great homebase
The room is beautiful. High ceilings, great fixtures, great bad… And all very well laid out. It was in a fantastic location, just north of the flat iron district.
The only downside of my stay there, was the fact that it was under renovation in the lobby. I didn't bother me… Staff was excellent, the room beautiful.
Nice finished in room.
Room was smaller than expected. 1 slow elevator. Shower didn't operate correctly.
The location was excellent, walking distance to 5th. and Empire State, just great.
professional hotel staff; artistic interior design throughout the hotel; the location; the Birch cafe with great coffee and food and the common Library room.
it would be great if hairdryers are available on demand for guests staying in dorms.
Nothing
Stuff were not friendly
The hotel has a very interesting interior design. It's confortable and welcoming.
My only complaint would go to some amount of corridor noise, since the door and wall isolation is not that good.
The hotel's location, design and price.
That breakfast wasn't include in the price.
full of character, felt like I was in NY and not just a boring, standard hotel room that could have been anywhere in the world.
more hot water please, shower mid day only gave me warm water.
Good location for Maceys, Empire State Building and sightseeing tour buses.
Very central - good place in Manhattan!
The hotel is too expensive for the comfort you get there. the rooms look like a youth-hostel also the sanitary-equipment but the hotel wants a price like a midclass-hotel! not OK!!!
The name
It was too noisy, especially on the 3rd floor...I Could hear very loud garbage trucks from about 3 am until 4:30 am----ugh!
The art was was amazing, such a quirky hotel! location was very central, great value for money!
With a stay at The Evelyn Hotel, you'll be centrally located in New York, steps from 5th Avenue and 7 minutes by foot from Empire State Building. Featured amenities include limo/town car service, a computer station, and express check-in.
