It was at a fantastic setting along the scenic drive, 5 Km from the site of Petra. Please note the entrance to Petra is at the town of Wadi Musa which is dirty, dusty and unattractive. So it was great to come back to a hotel away from all this mess at the end of a hard day of touring. You will need a rental car/cab service to make the most of this hotel. It does have a shuttle bus to take you to the site but the first bus leaves at 8 AM, too late. You should be at the entrance by 7 at the latest to avoid the massive crowds. The site opens at 6. The shuttle bus does NO pickup at the end of the day. The hotel does have an attractive lobby, lounge area, and a large standard guest room.
The hotel is worn. The room is good, not great, esp for the price of US250 which I paid per night. The bathroom is unaccceptable. It is 3 star BR with a poorly functioning toilet. The floor has ceramic tiles which didn't look 100% clean. The AM Bfast buffet was just adequate. My wife saw a waiter stole some food and quickly darted back into the kitchen area to eat it. She also saw waiters coming into the dining room buttoning up their sleeves- not a very professional impression all in all. We had a cheap buffect dinner at Petra Zeman right in Wadi Musa, only 10 JD per person. It was okay for the price but I got food poisoning the next day, though my wife didn't. It was terrible for me as I was sick with diarrhea during our long day at Petra
The view from the hotel is really nice and the Italian restaurant is correct; these are the only two positive things about the hotel.
The hotel is old, badly maintained, the staff look like is without any guidance and act like if they were in a 3* hotel (barman smoking behind the bar!!!). Rooms are old, not very well cleaned and the conditions of toilets are unacceptable. 200 € a night for such an accommodation is really not value for money.
The bed was really comfortable, we slept well after the exertion of seeing Petra.
There was a switch missing from the bedside lamp, so we were unable to turn it on independent of the other lamp. I pointed this out to the staff the next morning, but it was not fixed during our stay (three days) and I expect it won't be fixed. For the price we paid, this is unacceptable.
Friendly staff, spectacular view, spacious parking.
The bathroom finishing with tiles is far from what one expects from a luxury hotel; dull colours, some drilled holes...not like other Marriott hotels in the same country. Overpriced for the quality - one pays a premium to be near Petra.
The view is great especially from the pool side.... the hotel is not walking distance from the petra site but it is worth staying at and enjoying the marvelous views... anyway transportation is available and it is a 10 minute drive only
Quality & Variety of food at the buffet needs improvment
only the view from the coffee shop overlooking the mountains specially at sunset.and the al funghi risotto at the italian restaurant
its a rip off, rooms and bathrooms need to be updated, didnt feel like we were staying at the marriot. highly non recommended. petra needs good fairly priced hotels.
The hotel was in a good location to explore Petra. Beautiful rooms and exqusite views of Jordans mountains.
There was some knod of mix up between booking.com and the Marriott therefore they were not expecting us on the night that we arrived. Therefore we had had a 2 houre flight, a 3 hour drive to get to the hotel to be told that they were expecting us the next night and that they were fully booked. They then sent us to an alternative "5 star" hotel which was at best a 3 star! Rooms were disgusting and was awoken at 7.30am by staff asking to check the mini bar! Completely unacceptable. The breakfast choice and quality once we got to the Marriott was extremely poor. I was also charged 3GBP to purchase a bottle of water to have with my breakfast. This is not normal practice in a 5star hotel where your breakfast is included in the proce.
We really enjoyed the private cinema screening of Indiana Jones! The view from the terrace of the Italian restaurant at sunset was amazing.
pool was very cold; no information about the hotel in the room
Helpful and very professional staff, clean room and superb view over the mountains where Petra hides. Excellent hotel!
everything, view, food, room pool.
