Great Service
Customer service is A+ I have been stayed here several times over the past 10 years and each time i am impressed with the service at this hotel. I made a reservation for two nights and then noticed that my plane left a day earlier than expected. I called reservations and was able to cancel my second night and get a full refund. I was also giving a 2 hour late check out which is more than any other late check out i have been given at other hotels. The staff is very friendly, polite and helpful. This is by far my favorite hotel to stay at.
Parking is expensive
Subway construction ruins stay
Not much- out dated decor, staff was rude and not accommodating
The noise from subway construction outside my room was horrible. When I complained the staff offered me the ability to check out without being charged. I explained that was not possible as I had been drinking and did not want to drive after drinking, and it was 1000 pm on Friday night! They were tearing up the road with huge machines to build a subway and they were doing this at night so as not to disrupt day time traffic. After we continued our conversation the staff stained offered me the option to check out. He then said he would comp my valet parking and drinks that were on my room tab. When I checked out the next morning he had not removed any of the said items. Horrible service! These rooms overlooking 6th and Flower should not be sold to customers. I will be contacting both Kayak and the Standard asking for a refund.
Streets access blocked
The minibar was the most complete minibar I've ever seen. They had everything from tic tacs and gum to shaving cream and maps. It was very helpful and even some really nice hotels only have water and one or two snacks. This was really interesting for me. The restaurant food was good, and the room decor was funky and interesting as well.
The view wasn't the best, but it was fine for one night.
Celebrated my 40th
The AHS looking hallways and elevator. Creepy but so kool.
I didn't like the bel man to check in my 18 pack. Not kool
The location
The ambiance isn't great
Playful, artful, and accommodating
I love the style at the Standard. It has character without sacrificing quality, and the food at the restaurant is superb.
Not much negative to say. Water collected in the soap dish. Uhhhh....?
The Standard knows how to utilize their funding, b
The food was excellent. Definitely above Standard. :) Their minimalist style was executed well. Food was delivered quickly for room service.
There was no alarm clock or clock in the room. This posed many problems for me. I had to turn on the tv and flip the channel to get a momentary glimpse of the time. Also, the mini fridge was crammed full of drinks so that there was no room to house leftover food. The gym was stagnant, dark, and claustrophobic. The equipment was in great shape and functional, but being in that room was a struggle mentally. The walls were a terrible wood-paneling that accentuated the windowless, dark smallness of the room. There was no music, or tv to drown out the silence. Also, on my last morning I found that my arm was eaten up by what could only have been bedbugs.
Rooftop pool was really nice.
The room itself wasn't really comfortable. I get the minimalistic / boutique feel the hotel was going for, but it was very basic and didn't seem worth the price. Also, the see through bathroom wall (from the bed area) was a bit odd...it should at least be opaque.
Room decor, facilities, attentive staff, restaurant, location
A bit loud at times
The staff and manager on shift was amazing, super attentive to details and helpful.
There was a privet roof top event... Guest couldn't utilize the roof top bar, the roof top pool was closed off
Very goog bed
the room is nice. location is perfect.
Lobby needs complete make-over
Hotel was located just a few blocks from LA live area and restaurants. Very clean.
This hotel was more trend than comfort. Bed was on the floor and bathtub was in the middle of the room. Staff claimed it was an upgrade!
Advanatges: location, value for money. Disadvantages: glass wall of bathroom make fillings as you washing in room itself. We found it wried. Expensive minibar, low position of bed and TV set. Poor room noise isolation, we heard everything what happening in corridors. Very poor restaurant downstears. After dinner we didn't tried to have breakfast (cream soup was very bad).
Location, design.
Spaciousness of the room, location, design.
The rooftop should be available to hotel guests and their guests... not open to the public. That was annoying. Draws a really bad bridge-and- tunnel type crowd. It wasn't cool, so we left. It would have been nice to be able to create some kind of privacy between the shower and the main room... blinds or something.
It was a comfortable well-maintained hotel with a cool attitude. The staff were helpful, and the location well connected to other parts of the City. Wifi was definitely a plus!
The design is amazing. If you are an architect, this is the place to stay. This is also a great place to stay in LA if you are doing business in downtown.
Not the best place to stay if you are on vacations. Better stay somewhere in Beverly Hills. Lacks a bit of comfort too, but nothing serious. The bed isn't as good as it should be, and there's a lack of privacy on the bathroom, which is all in glass. This is good for a lone guest.
Front office staff were helpful.
Far too noisy. Every car that went past can be heard plus endless police sirens etc. Easily fixed by double glazing. Also corridors and courtyard etc were not clean. Minimalist furnishing is fine but it could include another rubbish bin in bathroom and one more chair as there is nowhere to put luggage during your stay.
Very clean and tidy room, friendly stuff, close to subway station
The shower was in plain sight of the rest of the room (glass wall) which is something that is only recommended for couples.
Not much...but the room service for food was prompt...food was so so...
The service wasn't very good...I called and asked for extra pillows and had to call again and even then it took them over 2 hours to get them to us. It was definitely over-priced for what we got..no view of anything but another building.
With a stay at The Standard Downtown LA, you'll be centrally located in Los Angeles, just a 5-minute walk from Pershing Square and 14 minutes by foot from Walt Disney Concert Hall. Featured amenities include a business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services.
