The pool area was like a beautiful grotto. Tiny, blue mosaic lining, large pots of flowers and bougainvillea all around--gorgeous. The Roman fresco theme is interesting. Decent breakfast, and it's nice to be able to eat it poolside.
In no particular order: Roman-theme "frescoes" and faux-marble-like texturizing covered EVERY surface, including bathroom tiles, toilet tank, room thermostat, etc. Where there were not frescoes, there were mirrors or bad-relief sculptures on the walls or highly speckled granite. It was all cleverly done but in the end felt dizzying and disorienting. Smoking is allowed in the bar off the lobby (or nearby) or so it seemed, because the lobby had a musty stale-smoker smell. And it cost a Euro to use an iron and ironing board for an hour. That's not much, and definitely affordable--but why? I think the management and some staff are German, and it's hard to tell whether they are cold or just formal. Finally, the location is very urban, and in the end, I just much preferred being up in the Cyprus hills. Would not go back, although it's quite the experience!
