In the future - flying Eva - even though this was the first ever event of this type I have had flying China Airlines. Eva provided both meal vouchers and boxes of candy to each and every customer affected while we awaited our flights to our final destinations. CA was silent - and also very absent when we arrived in SFO and went to collect our baggage - again Eva being the party taking action and responsibility to help us get our bags, with 1 of 3 damaged by CA handlers)."

優點： "On the Honolulu to Manila flight the crew were attentive and pleasant. I was comfortable and had TV to pass some of the hours on board. On the Manila to Singapore, there was no TV and the crew were less pleasant."
缺點： "The young crew on the Manila to Singapore flight could have seen the journey as more of an opportunity to actually do their job rather than a chance to sit at the back chatting. When I approached one for a hot water bottle as it was freezing, she screwed up her face at my request and turned and spoke to her colleague in a language I couldn't understand making me feel uncomfortable. One of the worst things though was the food. Throughout the whole flight from Oahu to Singapore, there were no vegetarian options (even the mid flight sandwich had ham and cheese). Further, you were served a hot meal almost within an hour of being in the air, then had to wait about six hours for the snack and then another hot meal was served within three hours of that at a very rushed pace making the experience very unenjoyable. This happened on the way to oahu also so it is something that they practice regularly. Terminal 2 at Manila is also terrible if you have a long layover!"

Food was not very good for business class, was more in line with JAL, EVA, Korean or ANA econo class but again, for the price, no complaints. Great friendly service, quick boarding. Priority Pass didn't have a lounge in Manila but thankfully, Philippines Air had their own lounge with great food and drinks for 1st Class and Business class ticket holders. Plane from BKK to Manila was NICE and comfy, all latest technology with beautiful fully adjustable chairs that lay flat. Would fly with them again!"

Because the second portion of WF858 is domestic flight, the passenger needs to exit the terminal and re-enter as an international passenger. Numerous security and passport lines. I found the movie selection to be poor with few non-violent movies available. Will not fly this route again."

優點： "787 Dreamliner's hardscape was new and clean. IFE was decent but had some anomalies (can't take off of pause unless you shut off screen, select same movie and resume). Food was fairly decent and plentiful. Think a cheap chinese diner & you've got it."

While I have a limited ability in Mandarin (think 5yo vocab), the announcements in Engrish was almost as bad as some of the translations in many Chinese products. I pity the people who can't understand ANY Chinese: they could not possibly get most of the announcements. They should really get at least 1 FA that can speak and understand English. The signage in Xiamen (I was transiting from LAX to TPE) was amazingly poor and confusing. You basically stumble from 1 floor to another based on the signage. The airport was actually very large for what appears to be a medium size city."

缺點： "Flight was Shanghai to Fuzhou, 10 hour layover and Fuzhou to JFK. Our flight from Shanghai to Fuzhou was delayed for 3 hours for "inclement weather" - it was clear in Shanghai. Flight company communicated to progressive, who the flight was booked through, that the flight would be an hour late, so I received a text saying new departure time would be an hour later. This was false. After that hour the only messages we were getting at the airport were "flight is delayed, new departure time will be announced later". We arrived in Fuzhou 3 hours later, at 0300. The bus ride to the hotel provided by the airline is one hour each way, and our connecting flight was 0900, so it was a waste of time to try to get to the hotel. This means we just stayed in the airport all night and boarded our next 15 hour flight with no sleep, no shower and nothing to eat. Customer service for flight would announce turbulence every 3 minutes, even after plane was having turbulence for 10-15 minutes. This freezes entertainment. Etc etc. many other small disorganized things as well."

When I got in touch, the rep from an overseas office barely spoke English and didn't help at all. Thankfully everything worked out at the airport. Found out that JFK-FOC is only 2 months old. No window! 2) Almost constant announcements about seatbelts and electronic devices, not loud enough to actually understand, but just loud enough be annoying. 3) Flight crew go down the aisle with the grace of drunken rugby players. On the return flight I sat on the aisle and got positively battered. I don't work for an airline but I can walk up and down the aisle without touching anyone! 4) The morning meal was a bottle of water, a bruised banana and a piece of bread with what smelled like dog food inside. Revolting. The meal on the way back was ... the same! Give me real food, a snack or nothing at all. It's only an hour flight. 5) On the return flight we sat at the gate for 40 minutes. No explanation or apology. 40 minutes late on a flight that was only an hour... 6) I had to ask for an arrival card as we descended. They could have been given out while we were sitting at the gate doing nothing for 40 minutes. 7) The only "entertainment" was about 15 minutes of commercials. My boss booked this flight for me. I will not fly with them again. They were so incompetent and overmatched, on a flight that was only an hour. I was embarrassed for them."

Everything was 100% on time as well. I could complain more about tiny tiny things, but for $500 I felt I got a lot better service than United on an equivalent route."

Food was always served first for her."

We had no direction from service people and were shuffled between three different customs lines before we ended up in the correct one at the Shanghai airport. With the airline not printing boarding passes for our connecting flight, it was an unexpected challenge having to get those printed and then recheck the bag which should have been checked all the way through. Our experience at the Shanghai airport and the nonexistent customer service from the airline was horrible. Trying to get that sorted and go through customs multiple times took three hours and much frustration."

缺點： "Where do I even start? Our original flight in Melbourne was cancelled. Luckily the woman in line behind us got an email alert, but we did not get anything. China Eastern does not have a ground crew in Melbourne, so Dnata staffs it for them. We queued for 2.5 hours to be told we would not be flying out until the next afternoon, and they could not tell me when I would get back to Chicago, but was promised when we returned the next day, that we would have full flight information. Gratefully we were put up in a Quest hotel (which I highly recommend) for the night. The next day we queued for 2 hours and were told we'd find out about our connecting flight in Shanghai as they couldn't give me any other information, but gave us each 14 AUD for lunch. After an hour delay we were finally on our way. In Shanghai things were a mess. We were constantly diverted to this line and that, no one knew what was going on. Finally we were directed to the proper place, and after 3 hours (not an exaggeration) of standing in line we found out we could not leave for Chicago until Wednesday (by this time it's Tuesday morning about 4 am), because they only fly to Chicago every other day, and we had missed our 11:40 am Monday connection due to the cancellation in Melbourne. They paid for us to be in a hotel that was 30 minutes away from the airport, and paid for the meals as well, and gave each of us 1000 Yuan. There was very little information or communication on the airline's part. I told my friend that I was flying China Eastern and she said she'd never ever fly with them, and now I understand why. I have to return to Australia in a month, and trust me, I will be looking at other options. I wish the staff had been able to help those of us who were stranded, perhaps booking other flights with other airlines, being more sympathetic, flight vouchers, something. They made us feel like "we" were inconveniencing "them." Such a nightmare. I know those of us on that flight were all in agreement, trust me, we had a long time to talk about the service."
