Nightmare at the Constantia hotel
I can imagine how unreal this story may sound, but this has occurred to my 70 year old mother that was staying at this hotel November 26, 2016 till December 3rd, 2016. She was to stay a full week while visiting a local dental office for orthodontic procedures. It was supposed to be a quiet stay as she had procedures performed in the morning and rested in the hotel the rest of the day. Little did she know that the stay there would become one of her most frightening and humiliating experiences. On the second day of her stay, the housekeeping did a poor job cleaning the room and my mother decided to complain about that to the front desk. Perhaps that event was related to what transpired days later. On a Friday morning a full day before checkout (Saturday) she left the hotel for a few hours. When she got back, she saw her personal belonging clumsily piled together on the floor of the lobby, not even in a plastic bag. As she approached the staff, she was stunned to hear a rude and shocking accusation. The clerk bizarrely claimed that she defecated into the bathtub (I kid you not) and demanded that she immediately pay for her stay and leave. As she was processing what just happened, she asked to see what they were talking about. At which point they claimed they have already cleaned everything up and had nothing to show. When she insisted if any pictures were taken of what they speak of, the clerk just claimed they trust their cleaning staff. They still had to let her back into the room because she left documents in the safe and she saw how the room was completely clean and ready for the next guest. She was certain that she left the room in reasonably clean condition and did no such thing as they alleged in the bathroom. You can imagine how humiliating the experience was for my mother to even be accused of such a thing. Unfortunately, the story does not end there. They charged her for the remaining night even though this was 11AM. They claimed it was to compensate them for the “cleaning”. To top it off, they kept chanting that she was not welcome at the property ever again. Utterly humiliated my mother had to gather her things and wander onto the street to look for another hotel to stay the remaining night. The moral of the story is if you do decide to stay at this property, be aware of what sort of experience you may get if you get on the bad side of the staff. Be prepared to take pictures of the hotel room before you leave and be prepared to call police or obtain legal services.
Modern decor, good location
No tables available at breakfast and not much food left!!! Under staffed
The location was in a good spot near the center of town. Plenty of things to do in the immediate area.
The hotel would not allow me to use a VAT form, claiming that the German law prohibited it. This was not correct. I have used a VAT form in other hotels in Germany with success. I believe that the staff was either ill-informed or flat out lying to me.
This hotel is ranked as a 4-star hotel - I wouldn't give it more than 2 stars. The room was small, but the main problem was the toilet/bathroom - it was a small area cut out of the room with an opaque sliding glass door and no privacy whatsoever: anyone in the room could see and hear everything what was going on in the bathroom.
The rooms are very well equipped and with plenty of daylight. Very unique is the terrace on the roof
The gourmet restaurant is not open only on preorder of groups
Easy to get to lake side and the shops and dinner areas, lovely breakfast and nice rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful as we only spoke English this was not a problem.
I would have liked the use of a washing machine and dryer as this was in the middle of our trip. I would have liked shampoo and conditioner supplied to the room.
Convenience for seeing the areas around the Boudensee and enjoying the Autumn Festival which was taking place.
Stepping in and out of the deep bath to shower. Also lack of shelving in the toilet/bathroom for essentials.
The location is good , it was near the old town
the room was too small and the bathroom has glass door which is not suitable for muslim people.
Modern, comfortable and clean. Very friendly staff.
The restaurant was closed both of the nights we stayed.
The hotel was clean and the room was nice.
The hotel had only been open 3 weeks, the lift didnt work so had to walk 4 flights of stairs to go in and out. They didnt have an ironing board, the receptionist english wasn't very good. And the rooms didnt have any air conditioning or fans!
the location is not very good...and the charges are high, compare to std of the hotel!
