Great
Location, service, room
Fine, but don't expect effort.
When I checked in they were great. Friendly, helpful, quick, and responsive. Good location, and great neighbourhood. The room was outdated but a great size, and bathroom a good size. I had a lot of storage space and free wifi is always a plus.
Once I checked in, I found BOTH lock boxes in my room didn't work. There was a hole in the wall where the AC tube went, meaning it never got really properly cold. I asked for cutlery one morning and the room service phone attendant hung up on me, and concierge told me to get it myself.
I Recommend this Hotel
The Normandy has an unbeatable location on the doorstep of the Louvre.. We were very pleased with our room it was clean comfortable and spacious.. We lucked in with an Air con room on a 6 night stay with 36 degrees most of that week..If you like a Parisien type experience in a character hotel in a great location this is for you.
The hotel was very clean and in a great location. The staff was very quick to address any complaints
Old and badly in need of a refurbishment. First room we were in had peeling wall paper and extremely beat up carpets. Second room was an improvement but still outdated.
Exactly what we expected. Perfect for what we need
We just checked out yesterday. The location was perfect. The staff speaks fluent English and will happily give directions. They allowed us to keep our luggage there before check-in time so we could wander around. We lost our room key somewhere and they made us a new one, no questions asked and no extra charge. The room included shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion, mini fridge, hair dryer and safe. Shower, sink, toilet, TV, bed, WiFi, everything was fine. The room temperature stayed very comfortable. The windows open to the street, so you get a perfect view for people watching. It's super close to the Louvre! Plenty of shopping and dining nearby. We were able to walk most of our trip. I felt safe in the room and the surrounding streets. I'd stay here again!
The hair dryer was very, very weak and old, however it got the job done. It was like a hose coming out of the wall. If I did it again, I'd still choose to leave mine at home and use the hotel's. It smelled like cigarettes, but that wasn't a huge deal. Everyone in Europe smokes, so you're going to smell like it regardless. It's not super fancy, but it was perfect for what we needed. The decor is very Napoleonic, maybe even a little gaudy, but I thought it was neat. Kind of a Wes Anderson feel. It was clean. Just old. We spend very little time in the hotel room anyway. There is a lot of street noise, but with the windows shut, it blocks out most (except for the horns, but I got used to it!). I'm a light sleeper and didn't have trouble sleeping.
Great location, very outdated and worn out
Great location, wifi worked excellent, huge bathroom, decent size room, cheap for the location.
Everything in the room was old and worn out. Windows leaked air terribly, heat was not turned on when we arrived, took a while to warm up the room. Hair dryer looked like something about 50 years old, barely any air coming out, sinks were cracked and one of them did not drain properly.
You get what you pay for
I enjoyed the breakfast as well as the access to the areas close by.
The hotel is in need of multiple repairs, or at least finish the ones in the guests rooms. My room had multiple hole and cracks in the wall, the bathroom had a shower curtain pulled out of the tile as well.

Hotel is great. Needs some renovation. Staff very friendly, especially a bartender named Raphael. This boy is so inviting that he will continue to attract more custumers to the Normandy.
A suggestion: Room service is poor and the hotel rely on an outside caterer which can be very inconveniencing when a guest needs to dine at a late hour.
It was a 4 Star in 1940
The staff was friendly and helpful. Great location.
It seems as if the hotel hasn't been updated since the 1940's. The entire facility could use a facelift. A 2 star facilities with a 4 star staff.
Same 30 years later
The location
I staid at this hotel in 1981. Today the place llks exactly the same. Old furniture!!! Need to remove old wallpaper!! Hotel has 4 stars due tothe lication Will not staythere again
There were menu's in the rooms for room service, a
The people were great, the rooms were quaint, The bar was pretty You can not beat their location 40 steps to the Louvre'. The bed was uncomfortable and small.
The bar was expensive, The rooms need over hauling, wall paper peeling from the walls, the paint had not been touched in years and the shower door and towel holders were falling off the walls.
Hotel is like an expensive old poorly maintained c
1. Great location: close to Louvre, metro, and places to eat. Great for being able to explore many parts of Paris by walking or taking the close metro line. The nearby Metro stop can also take you to the train station quickly which is very helpful. 2. Staff: Very kind and helpful, patient, understanding, and are very knowledgable. They made out first stay in Paris much better. 3. Overall: Good hotel for a trip to Paris if you want to see a lot in a short time due to location. Also, if you are unfamiliar with Paris, the staff are very good and will help you find your way around, buy tickets to shows, get to museums, find places to eat, and do anything else you want to do in such a wonderful city. Really enjoyed my stay, besides the room (Rooms are clean though).
1. Misleading: I'm sure the hotel was nice, many years ago. The entrance and lobby are actually quite nice (as you can see by the pictures), but the rooms are literally falling apart. 2. Broken faucet (would not drain water), Broken shower (the water sprayer would not stay up high enough, so unless you are 4ft tall or a small child showering is a difficult task resulting in a bathroom filled with water, Broken door (bathroom door would not close, annoying if staying with family) 3. Room: Hot (no air conditioning), very old looking (and smelling) 4. 4 stars or 2 stars?: The hotel is advertised as 4 stars (outside the hotel you can also see 4 bright shining stars) but should be 2 stars until the facilities are improved. However, with such a great location and service, I can see how it was 4 stars. Years later, It is 2 (maybe 3 if you get a nice room). After renovation this hotel will be worthy of 4 stars and will be the perfect hotel for a leisure or business trip to Paris.
Good location, near to Louvre museum and the metro. Big rooms.
Very old, needs an urgent refurbish. Poor service. Bad and displicent staff. Terrible breakfast (it`s better eat breakfast outside). Too much money for a 2 star or less service. After several complaints, we ourselves fixed the air conditioned (floor model, very old) with a tape, because nobody at the hotel took care about it. Bad experience. Don`t pay to see...
Beds were of a good size & comfortable other than that the hotel was somewhat of a dissapointment
Rooms and hallways badly in need or redecoration, bathroom smelt, staff poor
Location only, the hotel didn't meet the 4-star rating...
The price paid for the hotel didn't meet the 4-star rating... I've stayed in many 4-star hotel in Paris and that one didn't meet the standards. Everything was at the minimal (I've stayed in room 102), see not maintained.
Excellent location. Nice breakfast.
The reception personnel in the evening and night time was unfriendly.
Location is perfect for sightseeing in Paris.
The rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade.
Proximity to tourist spots; very efficient and pleasant cleaning staff and maintenance men
My friend and my daughter both complained that the two concierges they dealt with when we were there for 4 days and 3 nights were neither helpful nor pleasant.
The hotel was central to all the main attractions. The concierge was very helpful in getting tickets for the Moulin Rouge.
Hotel lounge bar was a little bit expensive.
Good location, warm reception
Leaking WC Run down bathroom (tiles suck to the wall with brown tape) No separate WC separated with plastic curtain Dirty, greasy walls, No double bed, but two singles stuck together ( NOT comfortable) Broken furniture (legs of the seats in the first room were loose, dangerous) Too hot. Central heating could not be turned off. This was not a **** star hotelroom, not by any standard .
Very spacious & well maintained room, close to the heart of the tourist attractions, and very friendly staff.
